Ten tips to better interaction with the club

The club can seem cliquey to a newcomer, there's something about the way we trust each other on trips and the level of social interaction that goes on that seems to build up a solid social group. The good news is that its not very hard to get into it, learn all the climbing skills you need and become a proficient climber. All you need to do is take heed of these steps:

  1. Enthusiasm
  2. Attend Club Trips - There is no better way to get people to remember you
  3. Help out
    • Pack up ropes up at the end of the night
    • Get down early and help set up
    • Volunteer to get ropes from the quatermasters
    • Help show new climbers how to belay and tie in
  4. Push your limits
  5. Attend the social functions - We expect people we barely recognize to turn up
  6. Be regular
  7. Smile
