Borrowing Gear
Club gear is available to all its members for loan, under various rules. The top rope gear can be used by anyone on a Monday or Wednesday evening, and lent to suitably competent people outside those times. Sport leading and trad gear is only leant out to climbers who have proven their skill in that particular activity.
The quartermaster decision on who can and cannot borrow gear is final, but the process of proving your skill or learning a new one is usually just a process of asking someone in the know to watch them, or teach them. For basic information on the skills and rules regarding borrowing gear, check under the individual items in the club gear list below.
For all gear it is recommended that members use as much of the clubs stuff as possible before rushing out and spending money on a shiny new piece of equipment that may not be needed.
General Gear Information
See this link for Gear Information on what's required, what's available, and what you can borrow from the club.
Gear Maintenance
Most of the clubs gear requires some form of maintenance, it is important that the quartermasters keep track of the state of the gear, when it was purchased and some of it may require cleaning.
To manage this, the quartermasters will hold at least two "Gear Sorting" evenings a year. The idea behind these evenings is to identify any missing or damaged gear. All members are encouraged to participate and will be shown how to check ropes for signs of damage.
For further information on the specifics of what maintenance is required for an item of gear, look under its section in the Club Gear List.
