Personal Helmets
Whilst the club has many helmets it encourages the purchase and use of personal helmets. And when three people have used a club one before you on a hot sweaty summer Queensland evening at Kangaroo Point, you might realise why we recommend this too.
Whilst it hasn't always been in the climbing ethic to wear a helmet, it is club rules that all members or otherwise using club gear must be using a helmet. This includes top roping at KP, all club trips, and any time where a club static or dynamic rope is used. In any circumstance where the rope is not tied off the the railing at KP, the belayer is also required to wear a helmet.
For the most part this is really just common sense, small rocks fall all the time and they can make a bit of a dint in your head with a little bit of momentum.
