Its no secret I like Tinbeerwah, long slabby routes with balancey high steps, big columns for frictiony bridging moves and well bolted goodness. It may not be point perp. However with Adam out of the state, the weather was guaranteed to be good, lots of sun, but not enough to fry you and not enough wind to freeze you.
After a brief stopover for mandatory baked goods from the Cooroy bakehouse, we set about the business of having fun. Scott and Nick Led up the twin fourteens "Degree's of Freedom" and "The Day the Jugs Ran out", bringing Mattias, Katie and Courtney up too. Meanwhile Bjorn and I strolled up the ever classic "Sports Fan" (17).
Having flailed hopeless last time on "Zircon Encrusted Tweezers" (18) I jumped back on in the hope of doing better, some flailing, swearing and more mental hurdles that technical ones later I got past the crux - at least somewhat better than last time, but still not clean... oh well theres always next time. Bjorn followed me up and, Nick having just completed "Sports fan" led up ZET in such a fashion that generally made me look foolish!
Meanwhile Scott ran up the second 14 with Courtney in tow, forgetting to heed my advice about tying the seconder into another rope and providing all those gathered at the bottom entertainment as he tried to throw the rope down the cliff whilst the wind, bushes and ledges did their best to catch it! Eventually he succeeded and Katie also went up.
Having not done my fair share of flailing, I decided to head up "Avatar" (19) which despite talking myself out of being able to do it at the fourth bolt, and then resting at every other one, I didn't find as technically challenging as ZET, although probably justifiably scary for the grade. Yet another reason to return.
Scott and Nick also finished on a high with Scott having a go at "Sports Fan" and Nick completing his impressive first (dry) trip to Tinbeerwah with "Trachyte Terrorism" (19).
Thanks to everyone who came, Mark for organising, Scott for the double seconder/top belay effort, and the girls for putting up with all of Scott's whinging ;) :P
