25-3-2007 - Tinbeerwah

There's been plenty of climbing going on in the last few weeks so I thought I'd give you a little trip report from the goings on for those of you with your legs in casts (there's no other reason not to be climbing is there? And the cast never stopped Stef!)

Last weekend two carloads of climbers headed up to the lovely slab of Tinbeerwah. Picture 40m high cliffs of column-ular trachyte, tiny footholds smaller handholds and plenty of pretty technique moves to be made and topping out to the spectacular views of the Sunshine coast hinterland, the Noosa everglades, and Noosa itself.

Chris, Pete and Eigil eventually found all the bolts for Avatar (19), It was a team effort on a great climb that tends to follow a large curving crackline up the cliff. Meanwhile Charlie and I warmed up on Me and My Dog (15) and Zac and Mark ran up the always pleasant Sports Fan(17).

With the sun starting to make climbing uncomfortable Chris and Pete headed off to the challenging "The Sacred Snakes of Tanahlot" a two pitch twenty that extends over 75m! Just down the cliff 20m or so Charlie and I were also ascending a 70m monstrosity "String Theory" at 17 this proved to be a very comfortable climb with the exception of the belay at the middle ledge being burnt to a crisp.

Meanwhile Zac, Mark and Eigil were playing around on "Me and My Dog", and so Charlie and I completed our day by running up Sports Fan. Pete had still not had his fill of climbing for the week (is such a thing possible?) and jumped on "Thin is In" (20) with Mark.

Well it turns out I've typed a lot of stuff, If your still reading, why haven't you stopped and gone climbing yet? If you've been on a trip lately and had an awesome time then tell us about it!
