Hey Gang!! Check It OUT!! We made it!! Arapiles!! YEEEE-HAR!!!
1850km is a long way to drive, but the Phun-Bus made it without too much drama... the high beam was the only thing that died, I left my fuel cap at Goondawindi, and I did an oil change to clean the gunk out when we arrived in Horsham.... Love my British Car!! =)
We had a fantastic curry at Toowoomba, Chilly Chicken somewhere between Dubbo and West Wyalong, awesome pies at Goondawindi. Denelquin has awesome pies, lemon tarts, coffee and choc royals, which is pretty good for the ute and bogan capital of the world!!! Clancys of Conargo is a winery in the middle of nowhere and rates on my list of must visits, and when the wine is great, and only $15 a bottle, its woth it!! Nothin like a bit of grog to break up a long boring drive ;-)
Did I mention flat?? O My God, the newl is a long flat road with long flat padocks!! The sheep are fat, and the grass is green, and the dams are full. But Its crazy, its still a drought... Aparently.
Anyway, Weve had 2 days climbing at Arapiles... Mecca... The biggest damn bit of rock you ever did see!! ( shut up DanL, we dont care about El-Capitan )... This is the perfect time of year to be here. The place is empty. We walked up to the Organ pipes and did D-Minor on the first day, we were the only ones there!! (the organ pipes is usually overflowing with bumblies, queueing for a climb is the norm). Ive done 4 climbs in 2 days... why rush when you are here for 4 weeks!! =)
Horsham Caravan Park is our home for now, and its not that bad. New camp kitchen, and you can have 20 minute hot showers. Ive talked them ito $110 per week for 5 of us!! Bargain!! They even let me post parts for my Land Rover to them (yep, British Cars are fun)...
The Bagdad Caffe is the best spot in town on a rainy day... (yep, rain forcast for the rest of the week) you can surf the net fo free if you buy a coffee!! And they serve curry!! YUMBO!! =)
