Highlights of the trip:
- TEAM SABER!
- Canoes not falling off the trailer
- Actually bringing beer and wine to drink
- Hot milk on our cereal in the morning
- Paddling around the river by myself in the mist at 6am
- Awesome weather
- Getting back to the car in daylight
- Making it to the sand dune
- The expected epic not actually being epic at all
- Not as much wind as we expected on the lake during the return leg
- Shooting stars
- Hot chocolate in the morning
- After struggling on a kayak, hopping back into the canoe and team saber reuniting
- My really old canoe not sinking or taking in any water
- Chocolate
- Shawn photographing the nudists
- Watching damo do tricks at the sand dune
- Kayak limbo
- All the talk of faddling and studded canoe paddles.
- Watching canoes run into the bank of the river
- 'practicing' S shapes
Things to remember for next time:
- Cameras need batteries
- Its no good leaving stuff in the car
- Camping in may is cold
- Getting everybody canoeing at 6am in winter is not feasible
- There is ALWAYS room for alcohol – I am disappointed that more than half the group didn’t bring any form of alcohol
- Don’t trust adam
- Dry compartments in kayaks are not really that dry
