An's Report

On Sunday 17th July, I finally got a chance to get out of Brisbane to join the club on my first climbing trip since.. a very long time ago :p

Leaving Brisbane at 6am without any breakfast was not so good (I was too excited to have breakfast going to Slider Wall for the first time) but who needs breakfast when you have the satisfaction of Sarah and Leonel's company (old old Cliffhangers member :p) in a Toyota 4x4 Hilux. After an epic tour of Northside (ie. getting lost), we arrived at the bottom of Mt. Tibrogargan finding out that the convoy of at least 5 cars were still comfortably sharing the warmth of the local bakery :(... *stomach rumbles*... needless to say.. THANKS CAM FOR FORGETTING ABOUT MY CROISSANT :'(

Sarah, Leonel and myself decided to make our way to the crag before everyone else and thanks to Sarah's experience and Leonel's orientation, we got lost :)... at least 6 times... . .. meanwhile, two other climbers informed us that about 50 eager people just rolled up at the carpark. After losing the hiking track on my own and about 20 minutes of bush bashing, I tasted bitter 'ashamedness' and bitter cold winds to meet up with 15 other Cliffhangers :).. among these:

Tristan Zack Joel Ria Adam Teresa Silvia Leonel Sarah Cam Adrian Damien Anthony Sandra Tim Blake

Hope I haven't forgotten anyone :)

What was fulfilling was the fact that I was in the outdoors once again, what was even more fulfilling was to see how strong everyone were climbing! Having said that.. even though I am out of shape :(.. im not tubby! (For the record :p)...

I have not yet thought of a word to described what happened next.. but trying not to scare everyone.. I would have to say we all had a rather eventful..and exciting afternoon. Thanks to Adam G. Slider Wall is now one loose boulder short. It all happened too quickly for me but by the sound of Adam scrambling for a safe position and the shivering sound of a boulder tumbling down the mountain side gave me a bit of a shock... Note: Adam was not climbing :p

I have truly missed the climbing trip fun and as always, the interesting Cliffhangers.

Kind Regards,

Ria's report

What a fantastic day. Mine started early in the morning, by being kicked out of bed to go put wood on the fire :) Adam and I did the extremely nice drive through Kilcoy and over Peachester to meet the rest of the days climbers at the Glasshouse Mountains Bakery. After stocking up with pies and other bakery goods we headed south a little to Mt Tibrogargon. Once at the base of the cliffs, the fun of finding climbs and continue the walk up the mountain began. I started off on a very enjoyable 15m 15, "Such a Nice Monster" seconded by Silvia and Adam. Tim led this next followed by Zac and Blake. Whilst doing this Pommy and Sandra played on "Blowing Bubbles" (15m 17) and "Something about Sandy" (12m 19).

Having completed the 15, a few more of us headed to the upper section of the cliffs. Here Adam led "Swinger" (19m 18) , which is a fairly easy for the grade traversy climb, seconded by Silvia. I later led this, seconded by Anthony. Whilst there Damo led Overseer, (30m 20) and most of the boys played on "Howler" (16m 24). The fun at the upper section was disturbed by the number of rock calls, fortunately there were no serious injuries, just a couple of scratches and some bruises. Leonel decided to lead the 25 just to the left Howler.

I know that Cam led the 19 at thw lower section. And others went up various climbs. On the way back down, Anthony convinced me to lead the 17, "Blowing Bubbles" which Joel and Anthony then seconded.

All in all, I believe a great day was had by all, and I look forward to doing some more training there before going to Bluies!!!!
